How to permanently set static IP in Ubuntu
Edit the file:
/etc/network/interfaces
Edit the section for your primary network interface. It is probably device eth0 or eth1. Say you are on a 192.168.1.0 network and you want to set your static IP to 192.168.1.66. These values are typical.
auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.1.66 network 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 broadcast 192.168.1.255
