Ubuntu black and white video

Something causes video to play back only in Black and White (grayscale). This gray video playback seems to affect all video players such as VLC and MPlayer at the same time. The problem is with Totem. I'm not sure what causes it, but it's simple to fix.

  1. close Totem.
  2. rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/totem/
  3. Log out and then back in again.
