The GENIAC was a educational computer designed by Edmund C. Berkeley in 1955 and sold by Berkeley Enterprises. GENIAC stood for Genius Almost Automatic Computer. Almost Automatic because it didn't have active switches (relays, tubes, or semiconductors). A human provided the bit state switching action! But is it a computer if it can't switch its own bits? Is an abacus a calculator? Turing says, "Yes!"
